Eldon Bottcher, Director of Eldon Bottcher Architects Pty Ltd 

Darren Ho Principal, McInnes Wilson Lawyers 

Darren has over 20 years of experience in tailoring legal solutions for the building and construction industry. He provides both front and back end legal services to developers, building contractors, engineers, architects, building certifiers and (building) industry associations. His clientele range from ASX listed companies to mum and dad contracting businesses.

Darren is known and respected throughout the industry for his knowledge of the regulatory environment in which building contractors and building certifiers operate. His peers in the legal services industry know him for his involvement in several of the key security of payment decisions in Queensland.

Chris Easton, Managing director and principal certifier for Cornerstone Building 

Chris has been part of the certification industry since 2003. His time in the industry has seen him work in all South East Queensland local authorities as well as a number of regional local authorities.

Chris’ residential experience has developed from working with a wide spread of clients ranging from large residential development companies to the home owner undertaking their small project, dream renovation or new build.

Chris also enjoys working closely with architects, designers and builders and endeavors to provide advice and assistance for proposed developments in relation to achieving compliance with all required laws and regulations.

Stephen Burton
Steve’s engineering experience began in mechanical; his turning point into the specialist field of fire engineering was after a major project with Brisbane International Airport. This project created a spark and drive that later instigated him to start up his own engineering consultancy firm – Ferm Engineering Pty Ltd. He has been providing fire and building services since 1988, offering a combination of innovative design research and code development.

Stephen is Engineers Australia Society of Fire Safety (SFS) National Deputy Chair; and Qld SFS Secretary. He assists Engineering Australia and the QBCC Qld Fire Protection Licensing Group and the Passive Fire Committee, which develops industry reforms, and Standards.
Having worked on some complex buildings and developed performance designs, Stephen has intimate knowledge of fire and mechanical systems, product testing, test agencies in Australia and overseas, and construction code requirements. Steve is a passionate, community-driven engineer, which is reflected in the business as he on finding solutions for all clients.

Trevor Kempster

Trevor Kempster of TBA Firefly, commenced his working life in the Royal Navy UK. On Honourable Discharge from the Royal Navy in 1990 he commenced his PASSIVE FIRE PROTECTION career.  From 1990–2007 Trevor was employed by various UK companies, installing, specifying, estimating and selling passive fire protection products. Trevor was involved in large scale commercial contracts including airports, shopping centres and supermarkets.

Moving to Australia in 2007 Trevor was employed by TBA Textiles to head their Firefly Division selling a full range of fire protection products direct to market.  Ever conscious of the changes in Passive Fire Protection legislation Trevor has spearheaded a campaign of Australian Fire Tests to bring all Firefly products in line with current Australian Standards. Trevor has designed and personally constructed in excess of 50 Firefly specimens for Fire Tests.  Trevor served on the Technical Advisory Committee for Bushfire (TAC 20) for two years and of those being Deputy Chair for one year.

Trevor has succeeded in bringing TBA FIREFLY to the forefront of Passive Fire Protection. A small company ahead of its time with a reputable name in Fire Protection.

Mark Catchpole
Mark is a practicing Private Building Certifier and Building Consultant, specializing in building fire safety, post-fire investigation and building legislative compliance engagements.
He has been intensively involved with the building surveying profession for more than 36 years in both the local authority and the private sector.
He possesses tertiary qualifications with a Graduate Diploma of Applied Science Building, and Master of Applied Science Fire Safety Design through the University of Western Sydney - Hawkesbury.
Mark also is regularly engaged as a building consultant by various law firms to provide expert witness advice in relation to post-fire investigation building compliance and general building compliance reports.
